HEALTH CAMPAIGN, 2 NOVEMBER 2003


This campaign is carried out by the Federation of Family Planning Associations, Malaysia in collaboration with Selangor/Wilayah Persekutuan Family Planning Association, Department of Health Selangor, National Population And Family Development Board, Selangor & representative of Kota Raja district, Klang at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) 4th Mile. This campaign, funded by Ford Foundation through International Planned Parenthood Federation is the follow-up and extension of the successful project implemented at Emerald Estate 2001 for "Further Dissemination Process and Follow-up on Empowerment of Young Women from Underserved Communities in Reproductive Rights and Reproductive Health (HER INITIATE: WOMEN IN THE NEW MILLENIUM)."

The objective of this Health Campaign was to further generate community awareness on the importance of self-health and to provide accessible reproductive health information and services to the underserved community. The response from the community was over-whelming. During the campaign, several services were carried out for the community. The services provided were as follows:

- Basic General Health Screening

  • Blood pressure Monitoring
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Body Fat Analysis
  • Bone Mineral Density Measurement (BMD)
  • Blood Glucose/ Blood Cholesterol
  • Dental Screening
  • Eye Equity Testing
- Doctors medical Health check-up

- Reproductive Health Services
  • Teaching Breast Self Examination
  • Pap Smear screening, Breast Examination and referral
  • Family Planning/ Menopause Counselling
- IEC Materials/ Exhibition/ Video Presentation
  • Healthy education/ Counselling on Healthy Lifestyle
